escaped kingsnake

banana Nov 30, 2003 04:22 PM

Hey, yesterday I found my kingsnake was missing, and I figured it escaped a couple days before since I leave it alone when it's feeding time but it never ate the mouse. I found it and put it back in his tank. Am I right in leaving it alone for a few days before holding it or feeding it even though he hasn't eaten for a while? This morning he seemed kind of slow and calm... I touched him and he didn't curl up or move or anythign like he usually does. I hope he's not sick! Thanx for the input

We need some more info. Is there any open mouth breathing, bubbles around the nose or mouth, sneezing, or coughing? Is there any discoloration in his/her mouth? Is it getting ready to shed-i.e. "blue" eye caplets? What's the cage temp?

Just looking at him, he seems fine. I was just more curious about handling him or feeding him, if I should wait awhile before I do. Thanx for replying though, if I ever need help when it looks like my snake has rabies, I'll come to you first.

Should be okay to handle if there is no obvious injury. No problem with feeding either. Sorry, I guess I mis-understood your post. Thought you were indicating that it might be sick. Thats why the q's about the bubbles (indicitive of a R.I). Good luck with it.
