Our Last Albino of the Year

Rob Jenkins Nov 30, 2003 05:55 PM

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving (if you celebrate) went well.

Here's two pics, the first one she was 2 days old, and the second one she's 24 days old. Her color is coming in nicely. I'm happy to say that I'm 100% convinced the Jungle pattern(at least in my Jungle Albinos) is genetic. Every hatchling this year has come out Jungle to some degree. I had a reverse stripe with an almost fully banded tail and an almost banded with a perfectly striped tail, but no normals.

Here's my newest girl at 2 days old, pretty scared still.

And here she is tonight at 24 days.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Rob

I'am semi ignorant on morphs. Will this gecko wind up being white and high yellow banded?.

Take Care, TLB

TLB,

Probably not. Many of the tremper albinos out there that are really bright white and yellow or orange have been incubated using the 'Tremper' method as outlined on his website. It really intensifies the colors and makes what many people will agree are better looking geckos. I heard too many horror stories of deformities or stillbirths that I didn't want to try it with mine. Those geckos really do look awesome, but you're still getting the same genetics as a normally incubated gecko. They do fetch a higher price, but as a consumer you have to understand that that trait will most likely not pass on to the geckos' offspring unless you incubate the same way. I incubated all my geckos this year at 81-83F.

That said, some breeders are creating brighter and brighter geckos through selective breeding and not the Tremper incubation method. If you're interested in a particular gecko, ask the breeder and hopefully they'll give you an honest answer, because the technique has gotten a little bad publicity this year. If all else fails, ask to see the parents. Here's 2 of my three breeders this year hanging out.

Thanks,
I think there are a lot better pics out there, just look at A&M and others. I just choose the best ones to post pics of. Here's a couple more of my Jungles I haven't posted pics of this year. The patterns are what do it for me, though. I like the bright reds and oranges people are making nowadays, but I have to have the patterns when it comes to albinos. For Monte, these could be considered the Not-so-Fru-Fru Fru-Fru's.

I'm sure you're going to be quite happy this coming season. You've gotten ahold of some great breeders, especially those reverse stripes. You could very well corner the market on Reverse Stripe Albinos next year.

Good luck
