Female Veiled Layed eggs

Chad98 Nov 30, 2003 06:17 PM

My female Veiled Layed eggs last night. I was pretty excited to find 48 eggs. Kinda neat. I expect to lose a few...I found transferring the eggs to the incubator was difficult. Pulling the eggs out one by one...and sometimes I would pull an egg out and it would knock over another. Like a puzzle. So those eggs are probably garbage but I will try them anyway. I hope I can hatch at least one eggs in months ahead. If anyone has any tips on incubating...they are welcomed here. I could use as much help as possible. Thanks

Just because you knocked over a few eggs digging them out doesn't at all mean that they're bad now. Turning or moving an egg in the first few days of incubation won't hurt it. When I dig out eggs fresh from being laid, I don't worry about them being moved a little bit, and I don't pay much attention to the way they were laid either. Some people think they should be kept the same, and if possible, try to keep them the same way they were laid, but don't stress over it if you drop one or one gets turned a bit. I'm incubating my veiled eggs with a temperature of about 75 for the first 2 months, then kicking it up to about 78 until they hatch. Slightly higher temperatures are rumored to speed it up a bit, but lower temps will get you bigger and healthier newborns.
