Whether or not it's "ok" is kinda a personal choice..... Nearly all veileds will attempt to eat leaves in their cages, and if they took a bite out of a silk or plastic leaf, I don't think it would be good. I say play it safe and go with a traditional chameleon plant like a ficus, hibiscus, ivy or pothos. The fake vines are ok, I personally just think that natural pieces of wood or vines look much better and more natural. I don't like the way the "rubber" vines look.... Try finding an old tree stump and digging up some of the roots. They are good looking, really twisted and come in all sizes. I also found some good driftwood at a lake in Utah and have used them alot and can't wait to go back and get more. Grapevine sticks are pretty easy to come by at a reptile show, but they can be expensive. Even craft stores have several good branches or all different types to use. Clean and soak all branches in soapy water before using them.

i should have been more in detail, the only leaves in his enclosure are on the vines. i gave them a strong tug and they didnt come off. the package they came in said they were specificly for chameleons. i do plan to get real plants though, i have a little time since my veild is not here yet.
