eggs pipping and now a question...

cktrj Jun 01, 2003 09:14 PM

This is my 3rd clutch that is hatching. I hatched 2 last year with no problems what so ever. so here's the question...how long should you let them stay in the egg with just their little head sticking out before you get concerned. last year, with both clutches, everyone was out of their eggs and exploring within 48 hours. with this clutch, the first, and second eggs were pipped fri night. the 3rd thru 5th eggs pipped Sat and a few more today. still waiting on 5 eggs to pip. anyway, only the first 2 have totally come out of the eggs. and one egg in particular has pipped over 24 hours ago but I have yet to see a head poke out. I'm a little concerned about this one. I have been leaving them alone to take their time, only checking on them every 4 hours or more. just wondering if I am over reacting with the concern. thanks for the help and sorry for the length.

I don't get concerned. I figure they are perfectly capable of getting out on their own whenever they want to. I just wait til they do.
