Before/After pics of Princess Leo (the brown Leo)

Lyn Nov 30, 2003 07:28 PM

I had posted pics of 3 new Leos I picked up a few weeks ago. If you missed the post, I only planned to get one of the three, but couldn't pick between two of them so decided to get both, then felt bad for not picking the third one so took her too. I didn't want the third one since she was very brown and blah looking. Here is a pic I took the day I got her...

She had alot of stuck shed all over her head, body, and tail (toes were ok) and she was such a blah color. I didn't know what to expect when she grew up. She's a Normal, but is het for Rainwater and poss het for Patternless.

Well, she shed yesterday and is now a very pretty light yellow. If you look close at the center of her back is an orangish smiley face, can you see it?

I'm so happy she isn't brown anymore. Looks much more like a Princess now!

She looks alot better in the second picture. She might of been stressed or something, my female gets that way if I forget to turn her light on in the morning before I go to school. Nice gecko! later

I got the Leos from a friend who is actually very good with geckos. He bought them from the original breeder 4 months ago, so I'm their 3rd home. They were all healthy and in good weight when I got them. Can't explain the stuck shed, he said they had a humid hide. Princess was in my humid hide for 3 days straight before this shed and none stuck at all. Part of her color problem was probably temperature and stress, he brought them to our reptile club meeting and they were in a small container with no heat during the meeting. That was my fault, I'd brought a heat pad but didn't sit by a plug so didn't end up using it. She might also have been blah just cuz she was going into shed. I have a gorgeous High Yellow male who is stunning after shed, but blah city for a week or two before he sheds. I'm just so very happy her brown color didn't turn out to be permanent.

One of the other females shed too, this is Zipper the day I brought her home...

And Zipper yesterday...

She was not as blah so the difference was not as dramatic. I almost named her Kazi or Amelia because she would just leap off out of my hands at the first opportunity, like a little KamiKazi (sp?), my other thought was that she liked to fly like Amelia Airhart (sp?) but I hoped she'd outgrow that trait so she got "Zipper" instead.

Wow, that is amazing.. I'm so glad that they have such a great home with you-- I'm sure they are too. Take care.
