I'm not sure. I used one of the Tetra brand reptile calcium supplements that didn't have it and I started to see signs of MBD in some of my hatchlings. I switched to rep-cal which does have the D3; this halted the progression of the disease in the afflicted individuals (they ended up with very slightly bowed front limbs which would probably go unnoticed by most). And, I have never encounted another case of MBD in the leos in my collection since I started using it.

Yes, they need D3. I've heard that D2 can be converted to D3, but it's still not a reliable way to obtain D3.

a friend of a friend makes his own supplements from human grade stuff, and she gave me a sample of his adult leopard gecko one, but i noticed the ingredients dont list D3, just D2. I dont think I'm going to use it anymore for that reason. Ive only used it for a lil while.
