Jungle-like boa pics for John Lokken and everyone else.

mdc Nov 30, 2003 07:54 PM

John - You seemed to like this little guy a lot when I posted him last time, so I thought I would share a pic of him with his older brother also. I finally managed to track down the breeder and convinced him to sell me his last holdback. He said that the parents have produced babies like this for the past four years, but he doesn't seem too interested in proving it out to be genetic. So, hopefully I will be able to do that eventually. The larger one is in shed, and I apologize for the poor picture--they wouldn't hold still.

Thanks for looking,
Matt Crabe

Very nice Jungle looking BCI's you have there.
Good luck with your breeding project.
Here is a male striped / Jungle looking BCI I own.
I hope to prove him out this year with my female pastel BCI.

Take care,
Tom

My striped pairing popped out this oddball this year as well. Looks a lot like the same appearance you guys are breeding for.

I was lucky enough to pick up 4 animals from a Ihle hypo x hypo breeding this season. Many of the babies in the litter showed different amounts of striping, and the mother also had the trait. The reason I say its "proven" genetic is if you look at the animals in my pics, then you go and look at some of Rich Ihles babies from this season, Im sure you will see the relatives of this breeding. I havent spoken with Rich about this, but I know the adults were produced by Rich, and he produced stripes in the litter, as the Mother of this litter was striped. And then I noticed some of Richs babies had the exact same appearance as theese animals, and I put two and two together. I believe this is a genetic striped line of hypos that look very similar in appearance to jungle boas (not to mention the "sunset hypos".

But then again what to I know. Has anyone else gotten striped hypos like theese guys from Rich, if so I would love to see pics.

This is the sibling to the first one posted. I just finished the deal for this one from the breeders buddy (along with the one I posted next). Depending on the weather I hope to have the 2 sibling on hand in the next week or two. At that time I will get pics of them all together.

Ive been calling theese guys my "strypos" for lack of a better description (when I say mine I mean mine as in ownership, not that I produced them...lol....dont want to steal the breeders thunder).

Also some of the animals in the litter had tail striping too. In fact either number 2 or 3 has a striped tail, just not sure till I get them on hand what one it is...lol.

Ok.. so I have a question about the Boas that look like Jungles that Matt posted. Lets say that Matt was able to get pictures of the parents as well as the grandparents and they ALL had that same look. Does the Boas that Matt own then become JUNGLE boas instead of Jungle Type Boas?

If we have to prove genetics by going back.. then how far back do we have to go to prove and label the animals as Jungle?

Thanks in advance.
