Prettiest normal I have hatched - PIC

Christy Talbert Nov 30, 2003 08:51 PM

Hi all,

Yesterday I snapped this picture of a girl I hatched out this summer. Her dad is a poss het clown from Ralph (Thanks Ralphy!), and her mom is a reduced pattern girl I bought at a pet shop in the summer of 2002. Dad had bright coloration, mom was ok but nothing really special. There was one huge egg and this girl was in it!

She is really this bright and I love the looks of her, whether she turns out to be a het clown or not. She's growing like a weed and nearing 500 grams.

What do you all think?

Very pretty snake Christy. I really like how clean she looks.

When I look at that snake I see what I thought was a pastel morph. Will someone please explain to me where I'm thinking wrong? Is it in the pattern and I'm just not seeing it? Is the color in a pastel morph different? A pic to compare would be awesome!!

PS - I'm not stupid or blind, just inexperienced.

Thanks for your input!

Bryan,

Thanks so much for the pic. Other than the pattern I noticed the dark areas on the pastel are lighter than on the normal. Is that what makes it a pastel? If the pattern were the same as the normal but the colors were still as shown would it still be a pastel?

Also, If Christy were to breed another normal with the same colors as the one she has posted would a percentage of the offspring have the same light colors or would it be completely random? If random, is that why it is considered a normal and not a "morph" because it cannot be proven? I haven't done much research on morphs but am I on the right track?

Thanks again for your help, I'm really becoming fascinated with this stuff!
