I was working through the math while you replied. Oh well.
Feel free to double check my math. I do not have a calculator handy so I had to do this on paper.
cubic root of 2.5 is approximately 1.35.
1.35 x 12 = 16.2
16.2 to the third power is 4251
4251/231 = 18.4 (231 cubic inches per gallon)
18.4 x 4 = 4.6 (4 quarts per gallon)

Figuring out the cube root was a pain, though...
