help with leo.

tonymarinara Dec 01, 2003 08:59 AM

my one female leo has developed some type of lump behind both front legs. It feels fluid-filled and both sides are identical. I definately do not think they are tumors, as they are identical. And I odnt think they are abcesses. there were no injuries or anything, it just kind of developed. She is healthy otherwise, and it doesn't seem to be affecting her too much. I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what could be going on. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is a male housed with her or been housed with her recently? She could of become gravid.. If not.. there is another unfortnate alternative to a guess at this.. When was the last time she ate and used the bathroom? Thanks, this info will help to decide on what could be the problem. Oh! how old is she? Again, thanks!

i am not sure of her exact age, though she is an adult. She is probably about 2-3 years old. She eats and defecates fine, and she is definately not gravid(i breed). These are very small sac-like bumps. Thank you for responding and for any more info you can provide.

Leo's can often store fat in the armpit areas, perhaps that is what is happening here.

When leopard geckos are very well fed and good eaters, they can develop fat deposits on their trunk right behind their front lets. Does it feel soft and kind of squishy? Is her tail VERY full?

yes, thank you . This is actually what I thought it might be, but hadn't previously heard of it happening. Can this become a problem for her? should i cut down on feeding?

This means that she is well taken care of and she is feed well. The look kinda like boobs lol.. Thats how I describe them. Like how a women lays on her chest lol. Nothing to worry about and keep up the good work with her.

I'm glad someone asked that question because I recently noticed that my male leo has the same thing going on. I was thinking about a vet trip but I guess thats not needed now. Thanks, you guys just saved me a few bucks.
