Broken back?

Velox_415 Dec 01, 2003 11:09 AM

Yesterday I got a house gecko, but I think the guy broke his (or her… how do you tell sex on them anyways?) legs, hips, or back when he put him into the carry box. The gecko’s back legs dangle limply but he can still twitch his tail. He’s just been dragging himself around with his front legs, and tho he can still climb, slept on the glass wall, but he can’t get from branch to branch and sometimes he falls. There’s also a would on his side. He seems like such a strong little fellow… and he’s quite cute 8p but do you think I should take him back to the store or just keep him? They’ll prolly feed him to the monitor lizard or something… but I just don’t know how much pain he’s in.

Oh, and I won't be able to get back to the store til Wed. Suggestions?

Thanks.

That's so sad to hear. It breaks my heart.
Did it look alright in the store when you bought it? If you want, try calling or taking it to a vet, maybe they can get an x-ray and see if there's a problem. They're pretty harty, but if the sales person was rough, maybe it did get hurt.

Let us know how it turns out. Good Luck.

thats too bad you should keep him cause the store will just either put him down or feed him to something, this is one of those things why i get my animal from the cage and not the store workers.....good luck

You have to know the store's return policy. But if he's as bad as you say, you are probably better off taking it to the vet and put him to sleep. Even putting him to sleep, you may be able to get your money back--but like I said KNOW the store's return policy. Some stores clearly post "no refunds" and purchased "as is". I seen other stores give refunds only during the span of 24 hours.

How's the little one doing? I've been thinking about it all day. You should keep him unless he's really bad. Geckos are hardy, he may heal on his own. But like I said before, maybe you should take him to a good herp vet to see how extensive the injuries are. Hope it all works out for you. Let us know what you end up doing.
