Breeding question......when and how?

mgl Dec 01, 2003 12:34 PM

Hello, I am familiar w/ the concept but this will be the first year that I am breeding BPs. How do you properly cool them when they are in tubs? I've read that the light and ambient air temps are the keys to generating the cooling period...but in tubs, the air is more stagnant w/ just the hot spot and light isn't a factor. Any suggestions or methods would be appreciated.

thanks

Im new at this too, but last year I got no where without light and temp cycling. You might want to invest in a mid sized tank for breeding purposes throw in a heatpad and light then cycle down cooler with less light and heat.say 70 degrees. about a month then bring it back to normal. then pop in the male or males and hope.It worked for me (at least they mated, still hoping it took)good luck

I have that type of setup for a few of my other BPs....but that doesn't seem very cost-effective for several animals...there has got to be an easier way....thanks for the suggestion and I hope yours do well too!
