Duskies x Red NC pigs and albinos...

alkee42 Dec 01, 2003 02:01 PM

I posted this on the crotlidae forum but have gotten no replies. Maybe someone in here can help me. I was wondering if anybody has produced any albino pigmys? Also if anyone has cross bred Red NC pigs with dusky pigs and if so what did they look like? Does anyone have any pics of these?

Thanks,

Jeremy McManmon

I don't know about the cross, but I asked a couple years ago about the albinos and someone said there was a DOR foundbut that was it. A person in my area insisted they had one but I never saw it, so I'm doubtful.

But alas the NC albino pig was a stillborn, but its 2 siblings survived and the parents are still paired up...... A buddy of mine produced it last year, and yes again Carolina pigmys (they are not all red, only Hyde, albemarle, pamlico area are) and duskies also naturally intergrade in Hampton Co SC, and make quite neat looking intergrades. Personally my favorite pigs are NC lavenders, and ghosts (white grey phase), reds are nice but there so much more common than true NC pigs, at least thats my experience on the matter. Hope it helps,

Thanks for that info-I hadn't heard of that albino, the DOR I heard about was apparently an adult, and the live one I waqs referring to(again, I'm highly doubtful of this one's existence) was supposedly in a collection in Iowa.(my area)

Thanks for the info. I would love to see an albino pig, that would be awsome. When I lived in Florida we'd catch these duskies that were blue instead of gray and they were way cool I still havent seen a pic of a duskie that was this blue. I wish I had one of them still or even a picture at least.
