that's nice, i like the huge white neck band. my petco is dumb, not the worst conditions, unlike my petsmart, but they sell albino leos for $89, and normals for $99!?!???!!!!!!!!!
isnt it rediculous!!??!!
She's a cutie! I love that little teardrop and the large white neckband =D
I got my 4th female from a PetCo. She was quarrantined for 3 months and wormed before meeting my other leos. She was one that was on sale for $19.99 at the time and she came with a free vet visit (And the vet knew what she was doing O_O).
She turned out to be my largest and fattest female and is my best breeder out of all of mine girls. She's layed 8 clutches this season.
This is one of her babies from last year. Her babies are always really cute ^_^

Hey, Yeah once in a while they actually get some decent geckos in... They have the Bill and Marcia Brant (Gourmet Rodent) account... In the two years I've worked there I've managed to get two Super Hypo Tangs and a couple of Albinos for a buddy... BTW, would anyone know which albino strain Gourmet Rodent is working with? I'd be interested in finding out myself, hmmm maybe I should email 'em...

Actually..I was really mad at Petco when I bought this leo. I was happy to get him/her..but they had another leo (adult) in a separate tank that was sooooooooooooooo skinny. It was one its last leg. I asked the guy what he was going to do with it, and he said "take it in back and fattened it up"...I told him it was useless, it was going to die anyway.
I mean, this guy walks around the store with his hands in his pockets, barely knows how to answer a question (I asked him how much crickets were and he didnt know).
He acts like he didnt even notice the gecko was skinny.
This looks like it took a few months to get this way..with no food or water..I mean, it was really really really skinny, not an ounce of fat anywhere on the body.
So I bought the baby gecko, walked out of the store in a rage crying. But I guess you cant save them all.
BTW..anyone ever had any success with calling the ASPCA on Petco? I was thinking about it.

Hmmm, thats really too bad. Sometimes I believe they hire people just to make sure that all the positions are filled, regardless of prior experience or knowledge. Obviously not the way to get people into the store, but at the same time one Petco doesn't necessarily represent how all of them will be though. As for the ASPCA, if you really believe that you should call them, I wouldn't hesitate. Maybe certain stores need to be reported. Again thats just my opinion...
Im pretty fortunate the PetCo near me has a pretty caring staff in the reptile department, most of the them seem to a take a real personal interest in the well being of there stock. Its on my way home from work and I stop in every other day to see what they have in. They receive albinos and tangerines on a pretty regualr basis.
Yeah..I applied for a job there once..and they gave me the cashier job. Not what I wanted, so I didnt show back up.
They even knew I had experience with reptiles,..but the postions were filled (with idiots).
I think I might just try again..atleast there would be SOMEONE there who knows what their doing!
As for calling the ASPCA..I doubt that leo is still there..but I will check again, and I will call if I need to. I think we all need to take a stand..make a voice for the animals. If we all do it, then something will get done.
I dont blame you, I actually got hired for the reptile area, and still find myself on the register... Its not the best thing in the world. But hey, as long as I get to the time to take care of my herps, I'm happy. I think I'm pretty fortunate to be working in a location where the animals do come first... I really think it all depends on the one managing the store... And our manager rocks. But yeah, if that gecko you saw the otherday is still on display and on the floor itself I would see about reporting it, sometimes its easier to get the store number and that way the location can be singled out... Thats how I'd go about it, oh and by the way... You got yourself a pretty sweet looking lizard there Crystal...
