Anyone ever find sperm in the water bowl?

East TN Reptile Dec 01, 2003 03:34 PM

My 1.1 Colombians are breeding. I removed the male for 3 days from the female. The very next moring in the water bowl was a long, funny looking,1'8" thick, string bout 6 " long. Sperm?
Thanks, Dave

Yep, little slime trails everywhere....looks like snails invaded the cage. Makes you just love breeding season, eh? lol

This looked like a white, string that looked like an accordiane

The strings I've found in the water bowls of mine have been basically straight, not like an accordian, but the majority of mine have been left on the cage substrate...hence the appearance of snail trails.

I saw that a couple years ago and thought it was some kind of parasite. Freaked me out. I see sperm plugs in my colubrids all the time. A friend tought me that by keeping kings on sand it easy to pick those out. Good luck with your breeding projects this year.

Yes, but it could also be shed from the hemipenes. I found this in a water bowl once and did some research and found a book that also comfirmed my guess of what it was.
