Swollen Female WGTF

mel Dec 01, 2003 04:08 PM

Hi All,

I have a 4 Year old female Whites Green Tree Frog - She is very swollen now and has been getting bigger over the last few weeks - I've been hopeing she wants to breed and that is why she's swelling - but recently after I'd worked the rain machine a few nights one of my males jumped on (amplexis) and clung to her for two days before she finally dislodged him. (much to our (and his) dissapointment).

My question is - is her swelling likely to be breeding redyness or is she sick (she seems OK - eating moving about - sleeping - behaving normally). Is there anytyhing I might be able to do to increase the likelyhood of her alowing the boys to stay and complete the task ?
Regards Mel

How often do you change the water? What plants is she exposed to? Bugs? Bloating is often a symptom of liver or kidney problems, so it depends on how much swelling you're talking about here! Could you take her to a vet?
