But i want to know wut im getting myself into. He told me its a south american silver backed skink, and i cannot find any info. There's an American Shiny Skink from Central and South America. I'm not sure how available it is in the pet trade. Try looking for a picture of Mabuya mabouya and see if that looks like it.

You also might want to check the EMBL Reptile Database. Unfortunately I think they make you search by country, not continent.

You also might want to post a picture here to see if anyone can ID it from that.

Good luck.

Hi Z,

No offense meant at Edward's post. I just wanted to point out that in responding about a gifted writer that one should not automatically assume Male Gender status.

Sincerely,
Brian

I had a forum member email me about something or other. He said "I pictured you as older, and male" I said, "Thanks, I think?"

P.S. I have skinks now. They're almost more exciting than sand boas, except the sand boas let me watch them eat.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

Thanks to Brian for defending Female honor and I also agree with Zetaki.

Peter: "It's Ok. I'll handle it. I read a book about something
like this."

Brian: "Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't
NOTHING?

Brian: (After being socked in the eye by Peter)
"The truth does hurt!!!"

Best Regards,
Jean

Edward,

I meant no put down. I assess your feeling were hurt by your defensive ZetEki response. Considering the number of posts on the subject, I regret starting it in the first place.

Sincerely,
Brian-SFCRC

No offense was taken.

I often assume people are male when they have a gender-less screen name.

I also assume that everyone is fabulously attractive.

Only one of these 2 assumptions is usually true, IME.
