What's normal........

janome Dec 01, 2003 08:17 PM

Does anyone know what 'normal' snake stools are suppose to look like? My jungle Carpet went for like 10 days without a bowl movement. Tonight, however, she really let it go while I had her out. It consisted of the first part being a white mass, probably from the white mice, with lots of liquid. Followed by dark brown masses and a little liquid. Is all this normal??? I'm feeding her 2 adult mice weekly.

If you have raised colubrids like corns and kings you will find that your python doesn't deficate as often and the solid product will look more like a dog fecies. The white substance and the liquid are the urine part of the equation.

assuming it's similiar to what you get with a Ball Python...

The white mass is Urates.. or uric Acid and Calcium excreted from the digestive tract after the digestion of prey items. Pythons routinely go longer without eliminating waste.. My 9 ft Rock Python will sometimes go 2 or 3 weeks without elimination of waste.. It has nothing to do with the "white mice" you feed her.. You may see hair and stuff in there but it'll be stained and not white really any longer.
