sliding screens....

lissag25 Dec 01, 2003 09:05 PM

anyone know where i can get replacement sliding screens for a forty breeder. Or at least the website or phone number to the company that makes them. I have an 8 year old forty breeder that has a busted screen and would LOVE to find another one...without having to buy a new tank..and i have no clue what company makes these cages.

thanks

Alissa

they are made by the company "all-glass aquariums". Do a search on the internet and I'm sure you'll find their website. Are you sure you don't want to just replace it? Brand new they cost around $90, and they just came out with a new design that I just saw at petco. The new ones have these little clip things that click into place when you slide the screen on making it much more secure. If not, I think they might be able to send you a screen top.

go to http://www.all-glass.com/products/cages/index.html

If you just want the home page, it's www.all-glass.com

This isn't the new design I saw though.

If it is the "regular - front to back" sliding type screen, you can get your dimensions and go to the local glass shop. A standard 5/16 inch thick window screen frame should fit inside of the rails of your tank frame, just like the original. Just get the widest screen material they have, and make sure it is not U/V reflective, so your lights will still give maximum effect inside. I did the same exact thing for both my 40 and 50 gallon screen top tanks when they finally gave out, and it worked just like new. Only about $12.00 per screen if I remember right.

Also, If the original screen has the plastic trim on it that matches your tank frame, it will come off, and snap right onto the new screen. Looks just like an original when finished!

a locally owned pet shop in my town sells replacement ones. I can find out where they get them from if you would like.

bad news...

I talked to them and they can get them in 5, 10, 20, 30L, 30T, 50L, & 50T....no 40gallon breeders at all...

You may have to make your own. Get some 1x2 furring strips & some replacement screen material from home depot. Wouldn't cost you more than $10.00 and you would be fine.

Sorry to lift up your hopes. I will keep you in mind if I ever find one.
