Clear, gel, bubble coming from WTF

cold_blooded Dec 01, 2003 09:47 PM

I have had one of my WTF for about...three years now. He has had a generally healthy life, although did suffer from a broken leg in his first year at my house...but, now you can't even tell which one was broken. Im just wondering...for a little while now, I occaisonaly notice a clear, gel like, bubble, coming out of his bum. He can suck it in, sometimes, and occaisonaly, it drips water. Other then these weird happenings, he is active and eats well (although can't seem to keep on the weight)...His tank mate is also active, and eating well...they are quite the characters. Do you have any idea what might be happening with my little frog?

is the bubble possibly mucus slime stuff that they excrete from their skin or is it something coming out of his 'bum'?

*Sounds* like a protrusion, no?

Geez, I meant prolapse, but I guess protrusion fits, too.

It could be prolapse, and part of his intestines are coming out. If it is prolapse, it will explain he can suck it in. I once, 5 years back, had a leopard gecko that had prolapse. Whem he poops it will come out, but then he would suck it in, Until one day he could not suck it in. I found him on top of his hide dead with a huge pink bubble coming out of his vent.
You should get this check by a vet, or read more about prolapse.
