How do you tell?

if its large enough, the most obvious way is to look for bulges at the base of the tail.

Males have slight bulges below their tummies, but before their tails, as well as a half-circle of pre-anal pores. From what I've heard, you can't sex them until they're about 5-6 months old.

Hope that helps, I know I've seen a pic recently that showed the difference really well, I'll try to find it for ya.
