X-rays showed no eggs inside!!

Lilia Dec 02, 2003 12:42 AM

So my girl made it to the vet today and my husband and I were very relieved to find out she was NOT egg bound!! Just a bit dehydrated, and we're already working on that...

Eve, DC... Thanks for all the moral support!! And all the great and kind advice..

I suppose laying 2 eggs only (even when usually it's 7) is possible after all. Perhaps due to the temperature cooling she wasn't able to hold all eggs and possibly re-absorbed some of them... hmmmmm....

On a separate note, I was speaking with my herp expert friend the other day and she warned me against the super size king meal worms (the really chunky ones). She claims they're genetically enhanced and are known to affect the reproductive systems in lizards... I have stopped feeding these worms to my guys but I did use to feed them these before so maybe the 2-egg zagga could be blamed on that...(???) hmm...

Thanks!
Lilia (and Coizinha).

Thats wonderful to know, glad ya updated us. WE ALL get very upset when that happens, eggbound girls is always a scarey thing.

Hopefully one day we may be able to know how to stop it from happening, someday ! But happy for ya, and hey post a pic of your girl, we love to get to know who we are talking about, hehehhheeh,

PS> I'm not quite sure about the superworms, I hope it is not true, I have over thirty different lizards, and just about everyone LOVES them. Been using them for years. Eve

...or King Superworms" or something like that, I remember seeing some info about a certain type being given either a hormone or growth regulator that prevented the change into pupae from occuring, and stimulated some extra size. The "regular" superworms are fine. I'd look all this up again and post it with more info but I'm running late LOL.
