Brandon or Terry would be better able to explain the physical appearance differences, if any, between the two strains. I do know that genetically the two strains are not compatible do to the fact that the Xanthic gene is bound to a different allele in each strain.

Thanks no problem. I wouldnt mind having a pair or two of the axantics but will not be till next year before I get any more snakes. saving up for 2 pairs of jungle carpets and daytona lol.

As Keith explained above, there are two strains.....New England, and Lemke. Both are compatible when bred together. I prefer to call them lines as opposed to strains, since they are compatible. When I think of strain, I think of two seperate genes that are incompatible with each other. Example...in corns you have two strains of anerythristic, which are both incompatible when bred together.

There is a strain of axanthic florida king, which is somewhat drab and, to put it bluntly, kind of ugly. I have seen a couple of decent looking ones, but for the most part, they are less attractive than normals. The axanthic brooksi have been one of my favorites for about 10 years now.......totally different than the floridas.

You are way off on your reply, they are compatable & are axanthic(lacking yellow) & not xanthic.
