Gekko gekko breeding question...

4everherpn Dec 02, 2003 01:42 AM

What is the procedure for breeding Tokay Geckos? What are the temps? Also is a 10 gal aquarium enough room for 2 adults? The 10 gal has pea gravel substrate and heavily planted and a few hiding places. I am just wondering pretty much on temps. Also do they/will they eat nectar? Does it matter if they ever get nectar? Are these guys hard to breed?

By the way...my hand still hurts from the bite of the little gal...that was an hour ago hehe.

Sir, please do some further research. A 10 gallon is barely big enough for a hatchling much less a pair of adults. I keep my 2 adults in a 65 gallon tank and they are growing out of it (they get quite big you know). They are very active lizards and will die in a small enclosure. Nectar is not part of their main diet but baby food and such can be given to them. Tokays are on a strict meat eating diet including crickets, worms and mice. Gravel is not a good substance for tokay geckos as it does not hold humidity. I would consider attempting to breed tokays in anything less than a 60 gallon tank (or even own one for that matter).

If you use the search engine of this forum, you will find lots of infos on keeping and breeding tokays. Its really easy, but they do need space. Cheap lizards to buy, but not cheap lizards to house. One must not ignore that.

Just do your seaches
