Help in picking out Breeder and Cham please...

shopaholic Dec 02, 2003 03:16 AM

Hi:

1. I'm going to the IRBa show in Pomona, CA in December. I Read the Kammerflage kreations will be there. Do you folks recommend them as a breeder to work with?

2. Is it my imagination, or are some of the backs on Chams different in the amount of curvature there is even within the same species? When I looked at the different color morphs of Panthers some backs seemed more arched up and some were more flat. If this is the case, which type has the more "humped back"?

Thanks-Maggie

Yes, most definitely the Kammers are wonderful breeders with beautiful chameleons. You can't go wrong with them.

As far as the "humped back" look...I think it has to do alot with the way they are posed in the picture. Some are walking or laying on a limb so they are more stretched out, while others are just sitting so they are more round looking. Look at the Kammers website at "Bard" (panther)...there is an example...one picture he's more flat looking and the other he is more round.

Take care

Yeah, Kammers are a great breeder to work with. I've got several chameleons from them and they have all turned out great. Amazing Blue Reptiles is also a great chameleon breeder and will also be in Pomona. I've also had nothing but great chameleons from them. I would just decide when you get there. Walk around the show, check out both breeder's animals, and find the one that suits you. I've always had an animal picked out before a show but once I get there my mind usually changes. Amazing Blue will have several veileds also (not sure if Kammers will) if that's what you're looking for. I would try to stick with the good breeders, instead of these other people who somehow aquire chameleons. Even if you pay more from a good breeder, the animal is always better quality and will have a better guarantee. Too bad I don't know who you are, I'll be in Pomona also I'd say hi. Good luck with your search. Oh yeah, about the show, bring cash (sometimes you don't get charged tax).

Well-thanks for the great little practical tips! How helpful that was! Its great to know that Cham owners are nice like you and the folks I've met on this forum. It gives our hobby a whole 'nother dimension of enjoyability to connect over a common interest! I'll look for the nicest person in Pomona, and it's a good chance it'll be you! thanks-Take care.
