Val Verde County Report 5/30-5/31

I hunted 277 from 8:00pm until 12:30am
and all I saw was this little feller at 12:10 a.m.
about 1 mile north of Loma Alta.

I have seen several this size up there, must be that mountain air.
It was over 7 feet, but just how far over I am not sure.
I am 6'1 and could hold it by the tail with my arm extended
straight up and its nose would touch the ground.

Big puppy dog though, nary a hiss or strike.
No, thats not me in the photo.

That is HUGE! I would love to see one that size in the wild. I guess I'll have to hunt that area next time.

Dang...big'ole sucker..I've been tagged by those bulls more than a few times. I imagine one that size would put a hurt on you. glad yall got him off the road. Some halfwit out there woulda loved using him as a speed bump.

Unfortunately, my brothers and I saw one that was turned into a speed bump--just north of the 377/277 cut off. It was huge, easily seven feet. Really sucked to see it wasted on the road.

Yeah, it was a brute. Unfortunatly, it was fairly glued to the highway in a couple of spots. I'm 6' and smorefun took a picture of me laying next to it. Hopefully it'll come out.

I remember hunting 277 in June 2001 with my cousin and finding a pituophis about that same size. looked more like a yellow log laying across the lane...
