First an x-ray to see if there is any MBD.

Next a fecal sample to check for parasites than can weaken him. You can bring in some of his poop from that day.

And next is the blood test which gives insight about lots of things, like the health of his kidneys and liver, and whether there is an infection going on out of sight. It will also show any dehydration, which is dangerous.

I hate to tell you how much that will cost, because if you have the tests done you will be able to know what is wrong with him or her and do what is necessary to correct it.

The blood test is the most expensive but it tells you the most. If the x-ray shows MBD, then his behavior you mentioned is caused by that, and the treatment is easy and inexpensive. Treating gut parasites is also relatively easy and inexpensive.

I hope all goes well with the vet visit,

Roger
