hi all, i believe i have caught (earlier today) a california glossy snake. i thought it was another gopher snake untill i saw that it was banded and looked it up on the net. here is the URL to where i found it out... http://www.werc.usgs.gov/fieldguide/arel.htm - i will upload pictures in a few hours.

Definitely a coachwhip of the genus Masticophis. Nice catch...they are not easy to catch especially when they are on the move. Andy

This is my favorite forum for lurking, but when I saw you post I figured I'd come out of the shadows and say hi. You should be getting an e-mail in a few weeks for my schedule next year if you can get out of town for a trip. Just let the rents know I'm safety first on overnight trips and they should be cool. Time to return to the lurker's lair.
