Update on raising funds for Eastern Indigo Conservation (from Kingsnake)

Carmichael Dec 02, 2003 07:52 PM

I received an encouraging letter from Ginger Sanders (kingsnake Site coordinator) regarding the situation about posts getting delted and the process of posting a message pertaining to raising funds for herp research. Kingsnake requires a letter stating the intended purpose of the post we want to make. Upon approval, their is a contingency and it seems fairly straightforward. So, I took the initiative in getting a post approved to put on Kingsnake and hopefully, we can mend some of teh hard feelings of many of the regulars here. Ginger's email to me was very encouraging and appreciated. Rob Carmichael

As some of you may have noticed...when we started to get posted yanked, I immediatley went to posting a classifieds ad.

Well...it was pulled after a day.

When I took the time to explain the situation to the owvers of the site, they re-posted it for me!

and...this whole thing may work out for the best in the long run. I've been running the ad for several days now...and I've got a list of about 14 people who have made "pledges" to contribute!

No real $$ just yet...but it could be very nice if they all pan out.

This got me thinking...we need to expand outside of the "Drymarchon" people.

There are many good folks out there...

Keep fighting the good fight.
I'm (sniff sniff) so (sniff) proud of all these (sniff sniff) people !!

There should be a web site with all the details of this effort - photos of teh research, paypal donations, other pics and details. I can do it and host it, but it has to be a coordinated effort. Then there is a simple link with the whole story in one place.

Rob,

Thanks for the kind words but I really do have to correct one thing. PHWyvern is the Kingsnake site coordinator, not me. I'm Staff Director of PetHobbyist but Wyvern is the work horse. All of the hard work. particularily with some of our more "challenging" members and boards goes to her credit. I just try to be there to support her.

This is good news indeed, and I hope it all works out for the best. However, ks.com needs to realize that their policies & what appears to be a lack of respect for their users is very disturbing & I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the defections that have taken place on other forums.
