wax worms

pacman101 Dec 02, 2003 08:05 PM

I just bought some wax worms and I was wondering how many I should feed my 11 1/2 inch beardie a day?

waxworms should only be a treat. I wouldn't feed more than one or two a month.

I am trying to fatten her up and I am also trying to get her to eat her veggies. All the websites say to get your beardie to eat their veggies try putting waxworms in their food dish and eventually they realize that their is food to eat in the dish.

Try freezing a few crickets. Thaw them out and place them on the greens/salad. You should stick to crickets as the main diet (occasional wax worms are fine)... the dragon should gradually put on weight with age.

Just wanted to jump in here,,, you can freeze crickets to help your dragon eats its greens?? does this work?

I rarely feed live crickets to my beardies anymore. I gutload the crickets and then freeze them in ziploc bags. After thawing, I place 'em on the salad and the beardies love them.

I do feed them live when I first get a box, but freeze them shortly after so I don't have to deal with the smell and maintenance. It's much easier than dealing w/live crickets as long as your dragon will eat dead ones.

Wow I had no idea about that (i'm still a rookie---but learning all the time) I've got to stop and get some crickets tonight,,,i'll get extras and try it out. Feeding live food isn't my favourite thing to do but hey, i knew what they ate when i decided to get one.... it was my choice. Thanks again for the info.
