How big do applegate gopher's snakes get? Where do they come from? more....

jch Dec 02, 2003 09:32 PM

I keep boas but I could not resist on buying this albino applegate gopher today. Is sand substrate ok and from what I have read temps should be 70 on the cool side and 80-85 on the hot side. Is this correct? Is there anything else I should know, any info is greatly appreciated!!!!!!Thanks again, Jared

Congrats on the Gopher. My Applegates are all around 48inches even my hets are . Your temps sound good too . San Diego gopher pretty easy to care you shoudn't have problems .

Take care

I personally would not use sand as a substrate. Aspen would work much better, or newspaper or paper towels. They don't have as much as a natural look though, obviously.

I would have the highest temp be around 80 or 82. Pits sometimes don't do so good with very high temps.

Like yourself, the Applegate gopher was my first pit. They rule!

Take care!

They are such unique looking gophers, the color, etc. I love the color on the albino. He took f/t right off bat, which is great.. Does anybody have any adult pics?
