Be careful who you feed

Hey guys,

I know it can be difficult sometimes, but could you please try to not encourage the resident trolls too much. It just makes for a lot of additional work to clean up later.

I have long since given up trying to sort through the messes caused by some of these individuals. I now simply pull huge chunks of subthread discussions from these folks rather than try to read and sort through it all one post at a time to see what posts are appropriate versus inappropriate. I simply don't have the time anymore to do it.

I know how much effort many of you put into some of your responses on a lot of these political topics and it seems a shame to have to pull it all simply due to the fact that they were attached to subthreads or responses made by these individuals. If it looks too good to be true it probably is. If you don't want your efforts to go totally to waste, then it may be to your benefit to address certain generalized concerns brought up by those individuals in new subthreads rather than within the ones by these individuals - at least you stand a much better chance of not getting it pulled.

It's just SOOOOO hard to sit there and let them insult you with personal attacks on a public forum and not retaliate.

I was actually hoping for a good "debate" from the article that I posted below...but a "debate"; not a personal attack-frenzy which is what it turned into as soon as the trolls caught it.

I'll try not to give them ammunition...

What phwyvern said made sense. What you just said did not. If you wanted a debate, why not continue the discussion to my reply? My response is ignored, but the "troll" response gets a big "This is JUST what I was hoping for" from you. You say you were looking for a "good debate" but you haven't acted like that is what you really want.

...your response led me to believe that this issue had already been "overdone" and discussed. I didn't realize it had already been posted and debated.

I had decided to leave it at until the attacks started. Then I felt the need to defend myself.
