Old National Geographic photo...

Larry D. Fishel Dec 02, 2003 10:55 PM

Does anyone here by chance remember I picture of a child sitting on the back of a large anaconda, from a late 60's or early 70's issue of National Geographic? I've been looking for this picture for a while (entirely for entertainment purposes) with no luck, if any has this issue and can just tell me the issue date, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I've never used the photo gallery, only posted from my own server, so I can't really help, but if you don't mind, could you email me a copy (lfishel@madprogrammer.com). If you like, I can put it on my server and post if for you (if you don't figure out the photo gallery first).

While I don't know the exact date I do know the issue. It had a photograph of an Indian child on the cover who had a bone or something through his nose. That article also had a photo of a bunch of yellowfoot tortoises that were about to get cooked.
It was from the early 70s I think.

Thanks, that should be enough info to help me track it down...

You guys inspired me to do a "manual" search through my National Geographics on CD. (If anyone's wondering about these, they just scanned the pages, so you can't do text searches.)

October, 1972, p. 476.

The boy on the cover doesn't have anything through his nose, but he has his face painted in a pattern where I can easily see remembering it as a bone through the nose...

There's also a pretty good picture of a large anaconda (probably about to be eaten thoug) in February, 1975, p. 273.
