Shipping Madness

JasonMc Dec 02, 2003 11:38 PM

Can anyone help me please? I just shipped a snake to Shreveport La. from Los Angeles Ca. using Delta Dash. It cost me $69.00 to ship not to mention I had to drive to the airport where I waited behind someone shipping a human corpse. Ewww.
Is their any other company that I can ship with legally for a cheaper fee. The snake industry is having a hard enough time with the local laws that don’t need to make it worse shipping illegally. It just doesn’t make sense to breed a $50.00 snake if it is going to cost $69.00 to ship.
I had to get approved by Delta by becoming verified shipper. Is their a way that I can do the same with Fed-Ex or another cheaper company?
Please help: Jason

There are other airlines that ship snakes. Check with Continental, US Air, Northwest, Midwest, United to name a few that do ship snakes or have in the past. Just call the cargo division of each airlines that services your airport and ask. Some require a visit to your place, like Delta, others do not. Some offer next day delivery as well. Prices range from $40 up to over $100. Each airlines is different. You may have to breed more expensive animals that people are willing to pay airline shipping rates for, or you may have to require a minimum purchase as it generally costs the same amount of money to ship 20 snakes as it does to ship just one. You can try to work out some sort of arrangement with a door-to-door carrier if they will accept it.
