B. Smith and R. Carmichael, because of you two my burm has made it with me through mites, RI, and bad sheds. Thats why I am glad you guys are here and lend your expertise.

Mr. Carmichael, you always suggest pro products heat panels. I am using cagesbydesign.com custom cages. I love how they give me the flexability to expand on my cage structure.

I was wonder how I should set up the heat panels?

My warm side is the left and cool the right. Should I, when I expand, put the panels directly on the cage top, to an opening? Should I put any IN or under the cage? My cage size will eventually expand to 6-8ft wide x 3 feet deep x an already 2ft tall.

Should I use a basking lamp? I am looking into getting the Helix thermostat.

Please fill me in on the best set up.

Thanks in advance,
Richard

Hey Richard, thanks for the compliment. It is warmly and humbly accepted. And thanks for pulling me out of the depths of boredom and giving me a reason to post. Things in this forum and the retic forum have been excruciatingly dull the last few weeks and nothing much has been "postworthy" so I have been real quiet during this time. I do come and read every day, but it has been becoming more and more trivial to the point that I skip even reading most of the posts knowing by the titles the jist of what is likely inside. I suppose due to lack of intellectual content I am experiencing what Marcia (Tango) referred to as "forum burnout" shortly before she herself departed. After she left other vastly experienced herpers left or came with much less frequency (including Rob) and the forums really lost their,.... cutting edge depth and insight. I'm hoping that this will return soon. I really liked these forums when they were this way and it was the highlight of my day to come and share thoughts and ideas with overly stimulating memebers and young, dedicated herpers with a sheer will to absorb as much knowledge as they can possibly get.

Anyway,. sorry for the long post. It really had nothing to do with your original post and I apologize for that. It's just my thoughts that your post evoked. Good day to all.

I echo Brian's feelings as well. But, to answer your question, I truly love Pro Products radiant heat panels (in all of my years, this is the best heating device I have seen or used). We mount them to the inside roof of the cage (their surface never gets burning hot; not even close). If you call Bob Pound from PP he will tell you what size/wattage will work best for your particular set up. Our burms LOVE to just soak up the heat emitted by these panels. Hope this helps. Rob
