Ok, now, i know these animals grow fast, and i expected that, but something recently has confused me. i'm looking at the forum posts and seeing animals nearly a year old that are less than 3 feet long.
on the other hand, my blue, purchased as an infant (you could still see a little line on his belly from where the yolk sack was absorbed) at the last Daytona Expo in August, is already 32" long, at only 5 months old. (well, last time i measured him, at that length and age, about 3 weeks ago)
he's healthy, happy, calm, and a fascinating animal, so i doubt anything's abnormal.
one possibility: he didn't hibernate (yay year-round warmth), so could this be a factor?
or do i need to watch for him developing radioactive fire-breath and laying waste to cities?
