How to get my Cresties FATTER???

Tumtum03 Dec 03, 2003 10:39 AM

I've been on here for awhile now and I have to say that I have never really seen a question like this before on these guys. I have 7 of these guys, had most all but 2 of them since they where 6 weeks old. My question is how can I get them to get some more weight on them? I mean they are not skinny and they eat great. I Feed them CGD, assorted baby foods even with meat in them, and boy do they love their crickets. I've taken stool samples to my vet and even taken them all in to make sure they have no parasites or anything, and they where all cleared by my vet, he even said they are in perfect health. The reason I was wanting to get alittle more weight on them so I can breed them. I have 3 pairs and one baby( the baby is not from any of my pairs) They are all old enough now, I just want to get my females fatter esp. with egg laying. I have had quite a few gecko species and have never had a problem with them getting heavier. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Maybe another food source I should try feeding them? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi!
Have you tried waxworms? waxworms are pretty much gecko twinkies, and for that reason, they should be fed very sparingly! like one or two worms a week. they are very fattening, and they usually help with putting on weight. Good luck!

the most important thing you'd need to do is gutload your feeder insects well in addition to the one or two waxies a week. good gutload = fatter geckos. if you feed the crested gecko diet, then yeah... a wax worm each week is good... but try not to get them too fat coz that can lead to respiratory problems, constipation, fatty liver disease, etc.

Yep. and waxies can get addicting to be careful when feeding them.
