just wanted to know if this plant growth bulb would be OK by itself for my dart tank or would i need something different/better? If so could you offer a better alternative?

The Second bulb is better if your fixture can take a T-12. It's color temperature is good, and it has a higher output. Although, there really isn't that much of a difference. I would just go with what was cheapest.
