Your right about the T plus. You won't find the bright white seen in Applegates on these. It's ironic to have locality pure, natural intergrade, natural amel in a Pit, isn't it? Kind of breaks the traditional thinking.

Did you notice that they have only two pre frontal scales instead of four????????????????????????????

Well......interestingly enough, these snakes seem to actually come out with either 2 or 4 pre frontals. The sub adult male has 4, while the 03 female, which looks to be the same age as yours, has 2. It's been thought that the intergradation may have something to do with this trait, but neither sub specie is known for displaying only 2 pre fronts, so it's just a theory. Although, we have seen a few normals from the area that have shown only 2. It's kind of strange, but the 2/4 rule does not seem to be absolute in this regard. I'm planning to note this in observations for following finds in the area.

sub adult male

03 female

Yeah,I was blown away when I saw that?
Exactly what intergrade are we talking about?I didn't think sonorans reached that far west?

p.s. you should re-post that pic at the top?

That's about as far west as you'll find at least some affinis influence. Almost all the snakes there show varying amounts of annectens/affinis, with annectens being mostly predominate. Go up the road a few more miles, and it's pretty much back to regular San Diegos. Down the opposite direction a bit farther starts to show mostly Sonoran. Since it's a natural occurrence, it's pretty cool to observe the difference/amount of each sub with the snakes you'll see there. I'll repost the pics fresh above. Remind me to thank Peabody for catching that amel to begin with!.....LOL
