help needed

myrenite Dec 03, 2003 02:53 PM

well. i need some help. i've bought a collared lizard few days ago. i know that it's female. she's very skinny. i know that i must "fatter" her up. my question is about ground layer. she was kept on Terrano grit (it was with calcium-that what was writtem on wrapping) but i've noticed that she was eating it. i didn't know if it was safe and i've change it into beechwood chippings. is it apropriate? or that grit was better? (it's coloured with green). i don't know also how many crickets per day should i give her. once i gave her 5 and she ate them all in few seconds. as i've written she's very skinny (i've bought her in pet-store) but i don't know how i sholud make her more fat. and i've got question about calcium. how often and what kind of calcium should i give her? or maybe only some "vitamin-mixtures' will do. and if so, what kind of products. so, in this story the main problem was : ground layer, crickets and calcium. i'll be gratefull if you response me quickly.

I supplement my lizards with Calcium and Vitamin Powder quite frequently...so much it comes out their nose LOL. I would feed her all she will eat a couple, or three times a day.

Change her substate to PlaySand (There I said it!)...I think it is the most appropriate substate to use (sand in general). Also, offer water daily...water makes up a good portion of a lizards body weight, as it does our own. I put ice cubes on the top beneath a light, and let it drip down onto the rocks...works like a charm.
