Interesting observation

The weather here has changed drastically in the last 24-48 hours. It changed from the usual hot and humid southern weather to cold and rainy. It is not unusual for the temperature to change a few degrees from day to day but this time there is a difference of about 20 degrees with a low in the 50's and highs in the 70's instead of the usual 90's. Severe thunderstorms all morning and continuing throughout the day. Since hte chne in weather began the boas have started darkening up. I know it's normal for the animals to change pending on where they are in the digestion process, temperature, time of day, or mood. This time it is different, the boas have gotten darker then they have ever been, they are almost black. The first two boas to change are sibblings and they changed at about the same time, the others gradually changed over the last 24 hours. It's really cool to see how changes in weather can have a such a drastic effect on the little boas. The adults and sub-adults don't appear to be going through these changes, but they don't normally change colors as much as the babies anyway.... any thoughts on this? Anybody else experience this ?

Normal Color

Almost Black

I LOVE that one!! The markings on the top of the head look like drawn in eyes and eyebrows! LOL!

It has been unusually hot here in my part of the states, and just yesterday the weather began to cool down by 10-15 degrees. No rain, just a drop in temps. One of my baby amaralis turned darker than I have ever seen him. My other baby amarali remained the same. Could be a coincidence, but in the future I am going to take note whenever a drastic temp/barometric change happens. Thanks for sharing.

One of our females has a geourgous purple and pink haze to her face and body and every day she goes through a phase where she turns almost black in the face. Her entire body gets dark and then a few hours later she is back to her normal color. If you seen pics of both phases, it is almost difficult to see they are the same Boa. I am always amazed at how dark the spots get on her head, and then later totally disappear. Very odd... Would think black dots that dark would always be visible.
