Lyre Snake pic..

jeph Dec 03, 2003 04:26 PM

Hi,
I found this guy a couple days after the old fire in waterman canyon-(where the old fire started). I was comming down the mtn. and saw this guy in the road. Its the first time I've seen one there. I'm sure all the smoke drug him out, it was late and cold when i saw him so i brought him home. He seemed fine but died the next day. I was able to get a couple pics of him in the morning before he died though, he was moving slower than normal, I figure he got to much smoke in his lungs than he could handle, cause his body was fine, no bumps or scrapes. Looked very healthy. Well i wanted to share this pic here so peolpe into lyres could see it.

PS-since the fire I have seen 1 dor cal.king,2 gophers and 1 rattler-(southern pacific)in waterman canyon. Too bad, all those snakes were just going into brumation-thinking they made it another year and then that. It really sucks, but I feel worse for friends that lost their houses in it.

It seems our paths have crossed once again.
It is too bad that Lyre croaked on you. At least you gave it a shot. We have a handful of Sonoran Lyres including some babies we hatched this past summer. Hopefully we get lucky with some more next year. They are really neat snakes...very underrated.
Have a good one.
