Opinions on new heat rock???

RedQuake Dec 03, 2003 05:30 PM

I saw that theres a new hot rock out with a rheostat attached that guarentees no hot spots. Anyone try this product or know someone who has. I just want to see if its actually true.
Thanks

I have one, it seems to have a pretty uniform heat, but I dont use it very often. Just when I have to keep a leo in a spare tank until I get some more flexwatt.
I still wouldn't trust it though.

people will say anything to sell a product

Thanks for the reply
The first time i saw it i wondered how in the world could they not have hot spots even with a rheostat. I don't understand how they make the heat rocks and why they are so different from under tank heaters. Do UTH's have hot spots at all? I wish they would just come up with a portable heater that is safe so i don't have to keep buying more and more heating pads.

Anyways, thanks again for letting me know

Arent there false advertisement laws that should stop these companies from claiming that their substrates are safe and other things? I would think they could get in trouble for stuff like that.

I wouldn't bother with the heat rock. My geckos love their UTH more than anything. Its real cute to see them all pile on to it after eating and stuff. I had a snake get burned on a heat rock 4 years ago, since then I haven't had another snake :^( or heat rock
