The best recipe for hydei is below, although I cant take credit for it, it was originally posted by randy27. This stuff is great, i see larvae in 3-4 days, and in 2 weeks I have flies ready to use. It smells allittle when you make it so I just make a double batch at one time and freeze it in glad ware containers, when I need some I get a knife and cut off a piece. I havent noticed a decrease in fly production with this recipe when I freeze it, I think the longest I have frozen it was 2 months with no ill effects, just add allitle bakers yeast after it has dethwed. One batch is enough for at least 15 quart mason jars. Alright here is the recipe:

1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup baker's yeast
3/4 cup apple juice
1 tablespoon of herptivite
2:1 ratio of vinegar to water
1 to 1 and a half cups potato flakes (enough to get a good consistancy)
I boil it all for about 1-2 minutes
then I put a little dash of baker's yeast on top.

so fish flakes will work???
CAn iadd those to my cultures al ready going by sprinkling on top of media or do i need to make new cultures?

One culture is a week old and has a few larvae but none of the others due except the premade mix from the supplier..

also the container from the suppler has run out of food and the coffe filters fall when i go to get the flies out what do it do?
I dont have a bigg enough container for the entire wad.

will the reptile vit help production or has it never been tried?
