Hello this is my first time posting in the forum I recently got curious and started looking around on the net about better tips on caring for your tegu.. I have had Higgens for nearly a year I am not sure the age I got him at.. but he was about 14 inches when I got him and now he is nearly 24.. he has always been agressive and never very friendly.. I do regard this is as my fault for I didnt handle him enough recently I have been trying to handle him and he seems to want nothing to do with me.. when I let him out he runs away and hides under the tv or whatever My question is ......... How would I begin to train him at this age I believe he is what you all call a juvenile my research indicates they are very intelligent and can be very friendly pets I want this from him or her... BTW Is there anyway to tell if they are male or female? I would appreciate any tips on training/handling/personality development anyone would be able to give me.. Thank you very much
Jason

Ive been working hard on handling him all this week I plan to spend more time with him every day as much as I can ... I had a odd experience today with him though I took him out of his cage... (by the tailbecause he wont let me grab him by his stomach I am careful when I do this however) I brought him into my bathroom where I give him water baths every other day and today I decided for the the first time to feed him outside of the cage.. I bought a mouse from petco and oddly enough he wouldnt eat it. I thought he would with no questions but I just thought it odd but it is the firs ttime i tried to feed him outside of his cage I went to a movie and came back and dropped his mouse into his cage he jumped on it I hadnt fed him earlier today either any ideas why he wouldnt eat the mouse ?
