Looking for Hyla Cinerea breeders...

Pei8147 Dec 03, 2003 07:21 PM

Hey Folks,

I need some help finding breeders that specialize in American Green Tree Frogs. I am interested in locating some blue ones and more albinos.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sincerely
Will

Albinos are readily available and I'm going to try to breed out the blue sides in one of my GTFs once temps warm up, although it will probably take a few years. Let me know if you find info on the blue phases, because I'd probably want to buy males.

So far, I have been able to find very little. I found the herp. company that sold the first wild caught blue phase. They reported it was a one of a kind wild caught frog. No more information was given.

I still havent heard back from the gentleman who purchased the first blue wc frog.

The individual that I bought my albino male from had a little to share. He said there are breeders in Canada with blues and that the overseas markets have them. Anyone with Oriental, German or Canadain contacts?

Will keep you posted.

William

I found a picture of a supposedly-wild blue phase in a book, although I can't remember what book it was. The book mentioned that they're out there, just not too common... but not THAT rare.

My pictures are down, but one of my frogs has bluish sides, and she's wild caught. I'm going to try to breed it out of her, if it's possible, in the upcoming two years.

I have never seen a blue GTF at any petstore or anything, so I know they're difficult to find and I think the ones I've found online before were expensive. I really don't remember well, but be sure to take pics for us if you fine one. Good luck.
