If your male is 18 months or older, it's just something you'll have to get used to. Males will usually become sexually mature at about 18 months, and when they are ready to breed, they will fast for several months. The first year I had my pair, my male stopped feeding in late Sept. and didn't feed again until April the next year. I freaked out for several months, but he really didn't lose any weight or body mass. Now I just try to feed males first. The rats that don't get eaten by males are fed to females. I feel lucky if I can get males to feed 2-3 times per month.......usually 1-2 times per month. Don't sweat it. You'll be fine.
