New to Rhacs - Name these Crestie Morphs!

lovelyleopards Dec 03, 2003 09:49 PM

Hi Everybody,

Just wanted to finally post some pics of the gorgeous cresties I bought two weekends ago at the Atlanta Reptile Show. So what morphs are these little guys? The darker ones are an adult 1.1 pair that I got ofr $225, and the yellowish pair is unsexed but looks 1.1 to me, and I bought them from a different individual for $130. I know the darker ones are dalmation b/c of their spots, and I know the stub-tail juvie is a tiger because of her striping pattern (may be hard to see in the photo). I'm brand new to cresties (not geckos in general though), and I'd appreciate any websites with general info about morphs, colors, and genetics. These guys have settled in nicely, but I've noticed they're a lot more secretive than my other geckos about feeding. They usually won't eat either crickets or babyfood while I'm around, but when I come back, it sure is gone . I've also noticed that their feet aren't as "sticky" as my Tokays' or other arboreals - do Rhacs in general just have less adhesive feet? Thanks for any and all input!

dark fires. I really love that morph.

The other two are yellows and probably a tiger, like you said, because it's hard to see.

I just love those darkfires. That is a very striking pair!!! Woo hoo!!!

Very cool - very cool indeed.

So was $225 a pretty good price for them? They were originally priced at $150 for the female and $130 for the male, and as I was oogling them the seller offered them for 2 and a quarter - so I just jumped on it because there were several other people waiting their turn to have a look at them! So will they more or less have all darkfire babies, or could other stuff pop up? I know zilch about crestie genetics, obviously. Thanks for the help!

. . . as the larger money seems to be going to the big named breeders. But I paid (if I remember) - about 80-90 bucks a piece for baby darkfires. I think you did well.

Now for the breeding part - you will produce darkfires and probably a host of other things too. With polymorphs - it's still somewhat of a crap shoot.

I think you might be better off selling me that pair - I'm not sure you can handle dark fires. LOL.

Good luck with them - they are sweetness . . .
