yah, when they're just about to shed, they don't eat as much. the day they start shedding, they have a ghostly look because the dead skin is ready to come off but is still clinging to them. just make sure they have a humid hide so it'll be easy for them to shed

As a follow-up point: since they eat the shed skin, they won't eat much the day of the shed either, so don't be worried.
And let them eat the skin. It's full of good stuff.
